Monrovia

Located in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains, Monrovia is the fourth oldest city in Los Angeles County. Monrovia became an incorporated city in 1887 and you can see many historic elements as you drive through it’s beautiful streets. The selection of original Victorian homes that still stand within the residential neighborhoods as well as the late 19th century feel to old town Monrovia give you a glimpse of the towns history.
With it’s location in the foothills of the mountains, Monrovia also has a feeling of being close to nature, especially when you are north of the 210 within the city. Most residents living in north Monrovia will experience an encounter with wildlife in their neighborhood. In the mid 1990’s a black bear became famous in Monrovia for taking dips in residents’ pools and spas until he was eventually captured and made a resident of the Orange County Zoo.
Monrovia does well at maintaining its old charm and character and is often the reason for a homeowner’s reason to buy within the city. Many new residential homes and townhome/condo development projects are done with Craftsman architectural elements.
